The “TS” in the Canon TS-E series name stands for “Tilt and Shift”.
By moving groups of optical element in relation to each other - with two lockable and independant knobs - it allows adjustment of the focal plane and parallel shift of the optical axis, changing the overall depth of field and image perspectives.
This feature will be especially useful with the TS-E 24mm f / 4 L. It’s a wide-angle lens much appreciated for architecture photography and will allow to correct building’s perspectives when shot low-angled, giving them back their straight appearance.
As part of the professional L-series, this 24mm benefit moreover from an excellent optical quality and robustness.
