The “TS” in the Canon TS-E series name stands for “Tilt and Shift”. By moving groups of optical elements in relation to each other - with two lockable and independant knobs - it allows adjustment of the focal plane and parallel shift of the optical axis, changing the overall depth of field and image perspectives.
This feature will be especially visible with the TS-E 17mm f / 4 L, a very wide-angle lens that will allow to rectify distorted perspectives due to the very short focal lengths. This enables to enjoy a very wide angle of field, even in confined spaces, with normal perspectives.
As part of the professional L-series, this 17mm benefit moreover from an excellent optical quality and robustness.
