The 50-1000mm is clearly an unique PL mount lens, with a zoom ratio of x20 and a maximum focal length allowing for ultra close-ups even over very long distances. If this 1000mm is still not enough, the lens integrates inside its body a x1.5 extender, becoming a 75-1500mm.
Equipped with a servo unit that can control zoom and focus, it will be a real asset for shooting any live event, obtaining shots never seen before with a Super35 camera, though with such a focal range, it may also be useful in cinema.
The ENG grip can be removed quickly, the lens becoming fully compatible with all professional cinema accessories, either zoom control, follow-focus or wireless remote unit.
To maintain a surprisingly small size and low weight for a x20 zoom, aperture is limited to T5 at 560mm then slides to T8.9 at 1000mm. However it still maintain a very good optical quality and an impressive close focus at 11’6”.
