The High Speed Leica Summilux-C series has been designed almost as a prestige object, as any of its aspects was worked in depth, from the selected materials with titanium mount, to the precisely selected glass and a custom design. With this optical construction, Leica offers an image combining a surprisingly beautiful sharpness with a softness in less contrasting areas such as the skin or out-of-focus background, while remaining highly resistant to flare and free of geometrical or chromatic aberration on the entire image.

The Summilux-C series is the only modern series maintaining exceptionally compact objectives despite its maximum aperture of T1.4, reducing drastically the camera footprint and facilitating lenses changes.

Leica has made it a point to keep a perfect homogeneity between each lenses in the series. Aside from the 135mm, all Summilux-C lenses are exactly 142mm long, with a front diameter of 95mm and a weight of 1.7kg.
Furthermore, each focus ring is marked in the same way, keeping the same feel in the hand of the focus puller regardless of the focal length. Neither too stiff nor too soft, this ring allows working with delicacy, with an almost organic feel.

With an enlarged image circle, the Summilux-C can be used on a wide range of sensor, including those slightly exceeding the size of the Super35.
