The name "Mini S4" perfectly represents the characteristics of this series: all the optical quality of the Cooke flagship series, the S4/i, in a more compact and cost-effective alternative.
Without compromising on the optical quality, allowing DoP to find the famous “Cooke Look” with a warm, enveloping yet precise and contrasted image, the Mini S4/i series offers a less expensive alternative to the S4/i series, ideal for projects that doesn’t require a wide aperture. With this optical quality and the "Cooke Look" they maintain, the’re perfectly consistent with the other series of the brand.
Their mechanical quality is also comparable to that of the S4/i, enjoying a solid construction, a uniform design throughout the series and Cooke internal cam-style focusing movement resulting in a completely smooth focus ring, without any stiffness.
Mini S4/i are available "Uncoated", that is to say without any treatment on the front element, which will allow a lot more flare, an often wanted effect especially in advertising or music video.
The "/i" indicates that the lenses integrate a communication system within the mount to record focus and aperture metadata on compatible cameras.
