To accompany the release of their Cinema EOS cameras, Canon launched the CN-E series, with "CineStyle" EF mount lenses, most of which with High Speed aperture (between T1.3 and T1.5 from 24mm to 85mm)
CN-E lenses integrate high optical quality that makes the reputation of Canon lenses, in a lens housing designed for video shooting. While staying compact, they have an expanded focus scale, allowing camera assistant to adjust focus with precision.
Unlike most of the still photography lenses that control the iris through the camera, the CN-E lenses have an outer aperture ring, giving the opportunity for DoPs to adjust their exposure smoothly, even during takes.
With their native EF mount, the CN-E lenses are custom-made companions of the Cinema EOS cameras like the C300 or the C700. Furthermore they can fully cover the 24x36 sensor size, making them usable with almost all major digital sensors. This broad coverage combined with their EF mount also make them ideally suitable for use with the Full Frame DSLR while using accessories usually used with professional PL mount cameras.
